My littlest sister is going to one of her top choice schools!

OK, so this post isn't about something David and I (or one of our dogs) has been up to, but everyone in my family is so excited about this news that I wanted to share. My sister, Alex, is a senior in high school and has been trudging through the not-so-fun task of applying to college. Last spring, she and Dad made a trip to Florida to visit a couple of schools, and one of the ones she liked best was Rollins College. She has been submitting applications over the last couple of months, and applied second round early decision to Rollins College (this school had two early decision deadlines for some reason). She and Dad both got the sense that this would be a "reach" school for her, but last night she called me more excited than I have ever heard her to tell me that she came home to an acceptance letter in the mail. Woohoo!!!

Alex is super excited about Rollins College - they have great academics, a small campus, and she can waterski competitively on their team. Alex has been waterskiing since she was old enough to walk basically, becoming a single-ski skier at just age four (to put it in perspective, I learned to ski on training skis at age four).

Since her starting days, Alex has trained every summer at Joe's Pond with our dad. She skis competitively on her own in local tournaments, has gone to clinics with the pros, and has pushed Dad to be a better skier as well. For a GoPro video of her skiing, click here. Given what a big and meaningful part of her life waterskiing was, a competitive water skiing team was on par with good academics on her ideal must have list for a college.

For a number of reasons, Alex has had a very challenging high school "career." We are so proud of how she handled each new bump that came her way and that has pushed herself so hard in her skiing. Most of all, we are super duper proud that she got into Rollins and very excited for her as she enters this next phase of her life!
